The deceased, Mrs Grace Addai, and the two others were said to be engaged in a conversation by the roadside, when the vehicle being driven by a Nigerian ran over them.

Joshua Nathaniel, 21, the driver of the vehicle with registration number GE 2696-15, was said to be drunk when the incident occurred.

Immediately after the incident, onlookers attempted to lynch Joshua but he was saved by a good Samaritan, who quickly called the police to the accident scene.

Sensing danger, a friend of Joshua who was with him in the vehicle, was said to have taken to his heels before the crowd gathered.

Facts
Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Kwabenya District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, Mrs Victoria Yamoah, said one of the victims, Ms Patience Ahiabor, was treated and discharged, while the other victim, Mr Alfred Setromey, who was severely injured, had been admitted to the Ashongman Community Hospital.

Narrating how the incident happened, Supt. Yamoah said Grace and Patience were on their way to visit some of their church members but when they got to Taifa Bankyease, they met an old friend, Alfred, so they engaged in a conversation a few metres from the road.

Unfortunately, Joshua, who was speeding, lost control of the vehicle and ran over them.

Supt. Yamoah said Grace, was sent to the hospital in Joshua’s car but some onlookers assumed that the suspect had killed someone else before he ran into the victims.

Some of the onlookers who videoed the police as they removed Grace’s mortal remains from Joshua’s car at the police station, where it was first sent, put it online with the headline: “Nigerians arrested with dead body.”
