Woman claims 2 men are responsible for her pregnancy

933436607_76877Police Personnel of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at Community 2, Tema, are investigating a case involving a 25-year-old woman who claims that two men are responsible for her six-month-old pregnancy.

Christiana Akyiri, unemployed, who resides at BBC, was said to have initially stated that she was impregnated by a Nigerian and went to stay with him at Michel Camp in the Kpone Katamanso District of the Greater Accra Region.

She later asserted that one Nana Owusu Sekyire, a resident of Community 4, was responsible for the pregnancy.

Both Owusu Sekyire and the Nigerian were said to have accepted the pregnancy without any one of them knowing the other, and started shouldering certain responsibilities before the baby could be delivered.

Hell broke loose when Owusu Sekyire got to know that Christiana was staying with the Nigerian who was reportedly overjoyed for impregnating the woman and for that matter, doing everything possible to make her happy.

Owusu Sekyire reported the matter to the DOVVSU and during investigations it was revealed that the two men were fathering the unborn child.

Sources close to the Tema police narrated the circumstances that led to the unravelling of the ploy to DAILY GUIDE. They indicated that Christiana was initially dating Nana Owusu Sekyire for over a year before she met the Nigerian about nine months ago who promised to marry her and rented an apartment at Michel Camp where they both reside.

During the same period, Christiana was still dating her old-time boyfriend, who was also planning to marry her.

Christiana was said to have lodged a complaint at the Community 2 DOVVSU on July 20, 2015 against Owusu Sekyire for not showing commitment to the pregnancy. She said Owusu Sekyire gave her GH¢200 to go and abort the pregnancy.

Owusu Sekyire was apprehended and charged with attempted abortion and refusal to cater for the pregnancy, but was later granted police enquiry bail after he promised to take responsibility.

He was said to have managed to know the man Christiana was dating, who happened to be the Nigerian. He quickly made a formal complaint at the Community 2 DOVVSU where Christiana was arrested.

The Nigerian, a few hours after the arrest of Christiana, called to enquire about why his ‘wife’ had been arrested.

The woman reportedly admitted during police interrogations that he gave the pregnancy to the Nigerian because he was well-to-do, although Owusu Sekyire was really responsible for it.
