A 3-YEAR-OLD girl has been found dead in a river at Ejisu-Jamasi in the Ashanti Region, in what appears to have a link with voodoo, also known in local parlance as ‘juju’ rituals.
Najat Alhassan’s body was seen floating in the river in the town on Monday, barely three days after she had reportedly gotten missing.
The toddler’s left eye had been plucked by her alleged killers, who are currently on the run.
Half of the hairs on Najat’s head had been shaved and there were three cuts on her back, fuelling suspicion that she was killed for ‘juju’ purposes.
The cruel murder of the innocent girl is said to have thrown the entire residents of Ejisu-Jamasi into a state of fear and panic.
Ohene Kwakye, an eyewitness, told this paper that Najat and her mother, Latifah, lived at Akyem Oda in the Eastern Region.
He said the little girl and her mother visited their family members at Ejisu-Jamasi on Saturday, but Najat got missing a few hours on arrival at the town.
The case was reported to the police and a wild search was conducted all over the town on Saturday and Sunday but Najat could not be found.
On Monday around 4:30 pm, Ohene Kwakye said, Najat’s lifeless body was found floating in a river by some children who went for fishing.
According to him, the fear-stricken children blew the alarm and the case was reported to the police who came to retrieve the body for autopsy.
