Dede Ayew arrives in Ghana for herbal treatment

andre-dede-ayewWhile the Black Stars engaged Canada in an international friendly, Swansea City winger Andre Ayew has arrived in the country to seek traditional herbal treatment for his sour knee problem.

The Swansea star pulled out of the Ghanaian squad for Tuesday’s friendly over an unspecified injury but his presence in the West African country raised eyebrows as to whether he had snubbed the Black Stars.

Ayew was spotted in several locations in Ghana’s capital, Accra during the week; sparking the suspicion.

However, insiders close to the player say he arrived in the country to seek herbal treatment to minimise the intermittent pain in his knee.

The 25-year-old secured permission from his Welsh Club to make a quick trip to Ghana despite being declared unfit to join the Black Stars for the friendly match against Canada in Washington which ended 1-1.

Ayew is suspected to have returned to his UK-base following the end the international break.

He is expected to be fit to play for Swansea on Monday night against Stoke City.

The former Olympique Marseille man has hit the ground running since moving to England to join Swansea in summer.
