Prez. Mahama speaks on Anas’ exposé at last

John_Dramani_Mahama_at_Chatham_HousePresident John Dramani Mahama has broken his silence on the controversial undercover work by legendary investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

For the past week – Anas exposé on some Court Judges and policemen including court clerks has been a major issue for discussing – not only in Ghana, but globally.

His two-year undercover work brought to light some 32 Court Judges who extort “money, sex, goat and yams” to change verdicts of cases which includes criminal cases.

However, President Dramani Mahama has for the first time noted that – despite the shame brought to Ghana’s judicial system he still support the system.

“I always supported, and will always support the rule of law and our justice system. What we uncovered these days is that some people, judges, judicial officers and policemen, seemed to be willing to transgress the principles of a fair justice, to their own interest,” he said.

The president posted on social media [Facebook] that all those found guilty in the judicial scandal revelation must face the law.

“Such persons should be subjected to what they, perhaps, denied others: a fair investigation and a fair trial. Sometimes the principles are to be re-learned the hard way, because justice should always be served,” Prez Mahama maintained.

“We must also understand that this is a problem of some people who may or may not be guilty: it’s for the investigators and the judges to decide. However, this is not a problem of our judicial system as a whole. This is not something to make us lose our faith in the judicial system. On the contrary, the investigations that began these days prove beyond doubt that our justice system is intact and working, served by many people with integrity and determination” he added

“I urge every one of you to keep faith in the system. Justice will always prevail!” President Mahama assured.
