ADB fires 14 top Officials

The Agricultural Development Bank (adb) has relieved 14 management staff of their duties as part of what the bank described as a process of reviewing its operations.

A statement from the bank explained that “the Agricultural Development Bank (adb), as part of its plans to review its operations based on a thorough evaluation of the company’s structure and strategic objectives, has implemented a new management organogram which has led to the merger and re-alignment of certain managerial positions in the bank.”

The decision, according to the statement, was taken earlier in the year during a management retreat at Akosombo in which various stakeholders partook.

The emanating decisions were presented to the board for implementation, the statement stressed, adding that the action is aimed at ensuring growth, strength and sustainability of the bank.

“We are in a very competitive market and there is the need to re-align our operations and strategic objectives to remain on top as one of the best performing indigenous banks in the country,” the statement said.

It stated that some staff who engaged in various acts that constitute “operational indiscipline’ in the discharge of their duties had been dismissed for contravening the bank’s policies and procedures.”

The management of the bank assured its stakeholders, customers and the general public about its commitment towards working to maintain high standards and efficiency to ensure that the bank continues to serve the Ghanaian public.

The bank explained that each of the affected persons was given compensation package and that the action was in line with the prevailing labour laws of the country.

Even before the statement, BUSINESS GUIDE got wind of the action by the bank’s management.

One of the affected top personnel said he received a correspondence on the action on Tuesday which stated that it was to take effect the following day.
