Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan on Saturday announced a $30,000 financial package for the Black Queens at his well-attended 30th birthday party held at his plush Basilica De Baby Jet near Kasoa.
The financial reward was in fulfillment of a pledge he made to the All African Games gold winning side.
He earlier presented $10,000 to the team in DR Congo where the tournament took place.
He said, “You have really done well, you made us all proud. I promised you that when you win the ultimate I will give you something special.
“I will add $30,000 to what I gave you earlier. Ghana is proud of you, I am too.”
The Black Stars striker also was presented with a beautiful plaque and portrait of himself and the skipper of the Queens Mercy Myles.
Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi described the gesture as unprecedented, saying, “This is unprecedented, no single player has blessed a team with such an amount. You have really done well, we wish you well in your endeavours.
Meanwhile, Gyan’s alma mater Accra Academy also presented souvenirs of the school to the former Sunderland man.
