The National Democratic Congress has postponed its presidential and parliamentary primaries to November 21.
The decision was taken at a National Executive Meeting held Monday.
The ruling party was expected to hold the primaries on Saturday, November 7, but the general secretary of the party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia announced Monday, that challenges with vetting, printing of ballots and other preparations that need to be addressed led to the change in date.
He denied claims that the party has rescheduled the primaries due to the upcoming Hogbestotso festival in the Volta region and challenges with the party’s biometric register.
President Mahama is going unopposed in the presidential primary and is expected to receive an overwhelming endorsement after a successful vetting.
