My song ‘Kakai’ is to scare youth against social violence – Shatta Wale

The phenomenon of secular musicians forfeiting their fame and luxury and choosing rather to become servants of God seems to becoming a normal trend in Ghana.

Many a time, these artistes abandon their secular music careers entirely to concentrate on their new calling that is, propagating the gospel of God.

One can mention popular names like, Azigiza Junior, K. K. Kabobo, Papa Shee and recently, Lord Kenya and Ofori Amponsah, who subsequently decided to return to his highlife music for reasons best known to him.

It is very uncommon for artistes who are actively in the secular music business to claim or parade themselves as men of God.

Surprisingly, controversial dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, who is known for singing what some entertainment pundits may describe as ferocious dancehall style claims he is a prophet of God.

“I am always closer to God. I always pray to God to let people know that I am a man of God who has been sent to spread the music,” said.

The ‘Dancehall King’ hit maker appears to believe in the prophecy shared by former hiplife legend Lord Kenya that he (Shatta) will one day be a pastor.

“I see Lord Kenya as the John the Baptist of our time who has come to prepare the grounds for my calling and when the time is due, people will be shocked to see me preach the gospel,” he emphasized.

Speaking on Adom Entertainment Hall, Shatta Wale revealed that his latest hit track; ‘Kakai’ which is currently enjoying lots of airplay is a gospel song.

The multiple award winning artiste explained that the song is aimed at scaring the youth against social violence.

He noted that he deliberately mentioned the name of great men of God like, Pastor Mensah Otabil and Bishop Duncan Williams because his vision falls in line with what they are doing- that is directing and advising the youth so that they can live a Godly life.
