Ghanaian actresses Yvonne Nelson, Yvonne Okoro and Joselyn Dumas have made it on the list of top 250 Most Influential Women in the world as a result of their social activities.
They were mentioned alongside Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama and Melinda Gates among others who are also on the list.
The list was put out by Richtopia.com and it is an automatic algorithm based on social media influence. Richtopia.com takes into account various metrics from Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram to arrive at the list.
“Whether you’re a would-be woman leader or have spent decades being one, you could be less well or skilfully equipped than to read the short biographies of leaders who’ve been through the journey before.
“So we’ve compiled a list of top women leaders. It’s a list of influential women at being proactive,” the website stated.
Yvonne Nelson came up number 113, Joselyn 179 and Yvonne Okoro 189, with Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey occupying the first and second positions respectively.
“Honoured…humbled to be included in this with these amazing women. 250 most influential women leaders in the world,” Yvonne Nelson said on social media after seeing the list.
Yvonne Nelson is not just a successful actress and producer but is a mouthpiece for the voiceless. She has been vocal on national issues.
In 2015 she organised some of Ghana’s celebrities for one of the country’s biggest and historic peaceful demonstrations dubbed DumsorMustStop to put pressure on government to solve the country’s energy problem.
Yvonne Okoro, on the other hand, is a humanitarian who supports the underprivileged in society. She recently built a playground for underprivileged students at the Dzorwulu Special School. She has been urging underprivileged persons to be focused in life and the career choices they make.
Joselyn Dumas is also not just an actress and a consummate TV personality but a big advocate of cleanliness in Ghana’s society. She recently took up XCholera campaign to rid the nation’s markets of filth following the recent Cholera outbreak in Ghana.
The three beautiful personalities are indeed contributing their quotas to national development in significant ways.
