Amakye Dede opens up on accident

imagesHighlife legend Abrantie Amakye Dede has spoken publicly about the fatal accident that claimed the life of his manager, Isaac Yeboah, and badly injured him and his bodyguard.

Yeboah, Amakye and his bodyguard were involved in an accident at Bunso Junction in the Eastern region on the Accra-Kumasi road at dawn on January 2, 2016.
Amakye was to perform at Paradise restaurant, a rest stop near the Bunso Junction when a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter mini bus crashed into his vehicle.

Speaking publicly for the first time on radio [Peace FM] on Wednesday morning, Amakye Dede said it would be difficult for him to find a replacement for Isaac Yeboah, who was also the editor of the entertainment newspaper, P&P.

He described the accident as shocking and said he was grateful to God for his life.

Amakye who was still on admission at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra expressed appreciation to all Ghanaians for their prayers and well wishes.

He expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for personally visiting him at the hospital and encouraging him to be strong.

He also thanked the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for sending an emissary to visit him and Mr Osei Kwame Despite for making arrangements for his transfer from the Osiem Hospital to Korle Bu for an extensive examination.
