Highlife great Amakye Dede is lucky to be alive after being involved in a horribly fatal accident on New Year’s day.
His manager and longtime friend, Isaac Yeboah, who was also the editor of the P&P entertainment newspaper, wasn’t lucky. He died in the accident. The musician’s bodyguard is in critical condition.
The accident, myjoyonline.com gathers, happened at the Bonsu Junction in the Eastern region.
The musician was billed to perform at Paradise, a ten-minute drive from the junction.
A source said Amakye was yet to perform at the venue and had reentered his car to change for the show.
While in the vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus rammed into the musician’s vehicle. Isaac Yeboah and the musician’s bodyguard were standing in front of the car chatting at the fateful moment.
According to reports, the driver of the Sprinter bus had tried unsuccessfully to overtake other cars and unfortunately smashed into the vehicle of Amakye Dede who sustained serious head and body injuries.
The musician is currently receiving treatment Power Memorial Hospital at Osino, Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander ACP James Abass Abaah confirmed the accident to Joy News.
