PHOTOS: Fire destroys Kotoko training pitch

aba54ee95a13c8ac278fc5b62dc0b043_LKumasi Asante Kotoko’s final training session ahead of Thursday’s big kick off of the GHALCA Top 6 competition at the Sekondi Stadium was cut short when the reserved pitch at Adako Jachie near Ejisu caught fire.

The players together with the technical team had to stop the training session to help put the fire out and stop it from expanding to the training pitch.

The team was feverishly preparing at its Adako Jachie training grounds for the Top 6 competition, which is one of the pre-season tournaments.

The Adako Jachie pitch has been earmarked for construction as an astro turf.

Although the team was not training on the said the pitch at the time of the incident, its closeness to the training pitch and the bushy nature of the place forced Head Coach, David Duncan, to call off the training.

The severity of the weather condition made the fire to spread very fast thus consuming almost two-thirds of the pitch within a very short time.
