President John Mahama appears to have a different view from a section of Ghanaians that say Kumawood movies and productions are mediocre and unprofessional.
Mr Mahama over the holidays watched two Kumawood productions titled Obroni Hiani and Sure Banker, and has described the two productions as “great”.
In a tweet, he said: “Watched 2 great GH productions this holiday – Obroni Hiani. Hilarious performance by Vicker, Brobbey, Lilwayne and entire cast.”
“Great GH/Naija collaboration by Okafor, Lilwayne, Agya Koo, Nyarko etc in Sure Banker. Split my sides with laughter.”
Obroni Hiani features Van Vicker, Kojo Nkansah aka Lilwayne, Emelia Brobbey among others.
Sure Banker is a Ghana-Nigeria collaboration featuring John Okafor aka Mr. Ibu, Lilwayne, and Agya Koo.
It involves a lotto vender (John Okafor), who has moved from Nigeria to Ghana for greener pastures.
Agya Koo, his landlord, torments him for rent, but changes his attitude towards him (John Okafor) after he wins a lottery.
The president’s endorsement could boost Kumasi productions, which are generally viewed as lacking creativity.
