Jordan Ayew faces fine

JS68989328ASTON Villa manager Remi Garde has disclosed that striker Jordan Ayew will be fined

by the club following lastTuesday’s red card in their 2-0 loss to West Ham.

The 24-year-old was expelled from the game for elbowing West Ham’s Aaron Cresswell in the 17th minute. Garde had described the Ghanaian’s action as ‘needless’.

Ayew has issued an apology for his misconduct but his manager insists the“frustrated” front-man will not go scot-free.

“He [Ayew] came himself to my office the morning after the game and we had a long chat, and yes, he will be fined,” Garde told reporters.

“He regrets it, he apologised publicly to me, the team and the fans. He behaved badly on the pitch but then he behaved the way he has to after that.

“It’s an accumulation of frustration for Jordan. A little bit during the game, but this frustration has grown in the previous weeks with the results and the way we were not winning games. For a long time he was the main threat for the opponent.

“I wouldn’t like if we summed up Jordan from this stupid behaviour. I’m trying to understand why he did that and of course he has to learn from it because your individual attitude can have a big impact on the collective.”

Ayew has netted five times for the Claret and Blue Army since joining from French side Ligue 1 side Lorient last summer.
