How can GITMO 2 be deemed less threat than 3 SA ex-cops! – NPP

3DkFFvflCentral Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwamena Duncan has hit hard at the Mahama-led administration over the arrest of the three South African nationals on suspicion of engaging in “acts that threaten the country’s security.

Making his submissions on Kokrokoo on Peace FM, Kwamena Duncan stated emphatically the nation seems to be much delighted with “nonsensical” issues.

According to him, the South African Police Officers who were arrested the El-Capitano Hotel were on an assignment that did not in anyway threaten the security of the nation.

He noted that the government has more pressing needs to deal with to safeguard Ghanaians against any security breaches instead of engaging in propaganda.

He subtly alluded to the transfer of two Gitmo ex-detainees – who were at a point in time, classified as medium-risk terrorist – to Ghana, and wondered why the three South African nationals who have no record of criminality attached to their names be deemed as a threat to national security.

We’re simply, as a country, engaging in quote unquote ‘nonsense’. There’s a real threat to this country in terms of security…Not long ago, Burkina Faso; our northern neigbours were attacked. As many as 29 or so foreigners and their own citizens were killed. About a week or two weeks ago, our neigbours to the West; they were attacked. Today, the West is profiling Ghana…in terms of security, we are high risk security. That is why you should not trivialize your security.

He further reiterated the statement by the New Patriotic Party Leadership which disclosed the mission of the South Africans, saying “the 3 men were invited into the country by Capt. Koda (rtd), head of our presidential candidate’s personal security. We wish to place on record that the presence of the three men in Ghana is not for any act that can be said remotely to threaten the country’s security.

The party continued to explain the circumstances that brought the 3 men to the Ghana.

Known security detail belonging to the NPP’s presidential and vice presidential candidates were being given routine training by these security experts specialized and licensed to offer VIP Protection.

Questioning the BNI’s logic in apprehending the three South African ex-cops, Kwamena Duncan lay into commentary on the issue by people he described as “incompetent bunch of members of government“.

“The people have been here once in 2012. If they were terrorists, why did they not act when they came to this country in 2012? Whether they came here a year ago or two years ago, they have a proven track record in 2012. They came by the statement. They came and did this same job. After everything was over, they left for South Africa. Did they leave any mayhem in their tracks?”
