Priscilla Anany, a Ghanaian Movie Director has won the Best New Narrative Director at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York with her first feature film “childreN of the mountaiN”.
The movie which was filmed in Ghana and produced by I60 Productions featured top Ghanaian actors including Adjetey Anang, Grace Omaboe (Maame Dokunu), Akofa Edjeani, William Addo (Akpatse) and Agbeko “Bex” Mortty among others.
Commenting on the film the jury of the awards said : “So many of the films we had the pleasure of viewing were expertly directed and worthy of recognition. The winning director presents a fearless and heart-wrenching tale of an embattled mother’s high stakes journey to heal her sick child and ultimately herself. The film delicately and powerfully directs us through an emotionally resonant story that is dark for truthful reasons and simultaneously hopeful.”
Priscilla took to her facebook page to express gratitude to her family, cast, crew and post production team .
She said she is looking forward to Ghanaians at home and in the diaspora support a uniquely made African film.
The film will be premiered in Ghana premiere on the 1st of July (Republic Day) at the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall.
