Nana Addo‘s in-law took photos of NDC branded cars – Kofi Adams

Kofi-AdamsThe National Organizer of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams, has said an in-law to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo Addo, was responsible for the circulation of photos of NDC branded Mahindra vehicles.

“ I have read that the in-law of Nana Addo supposedly or  so, was the one who took those pictures,” Adams alleged. On Saturday, the Managing Director of a quarry company, Marbles and Granites, was arrested for allegedly circulating pictures of the vehicles, which were parked in a yard belonging to the National Security Adviser.

The narrative on the pictures which went viral on social media, claimed that the vehicles belonged to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), but were being re-branded to support the NDC’s campaign ahead of the November elections.

Dr. Edmund Ayo Ani, who was arrested on the orders of the National Security Adviser, was subsequently released by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) on Sunday. He was arrested together with two others while at work. It is  however unclear whether the two, have also been released.

Speaking on the development on the Citi Breakfast Show, Mr. Kofi Adams, who justified the arrest on Mr. Ayo Ani, explained that he was arrested because the story that accompanied the pictures was a lie. “This is not just picking out pictures of NDC vehicles but it is also suggesting with a story line that those vehicles are for a state institution and had been diverted to NDC and this for me is a very serious lie.”

“If the pictures were just taken to suggest that vehicles belonging to the NDC are in the yard of a National Security Adviser, that would have been no issue at all; but to suggest that the vehicles branded in NDC colours belong to a state institution but have been diverted and are at the Security Advisor’s yard to be used by a political party, is a serious allegation to make..”

Mr. Kofi Adams believes political opponents are using social media as a tool to “malign and destroy” the governing NDC. “… My concern is that, somebody is peddling lies that NDC has taken cars meant for a state institution,” Mr. Adams argued.
