THE HANKERING for alcoholic beverages has allegedly caused the death of a man, believed to be in his early 40s at Adiembra, a suburb of Kumasi.
The deceased, who was identified as Seth Adele also known as ‘Assemblyman,’ was found lying dead on a bench, close to the roadside on Monday morning.
Eye witnesses claimed that the deceased, as usual of him, got drunk heavily on Sunday night and they suspected the excessive drinking claimed his life.
Report of Assemblyman’s death, who was very popular in the area, attracted hordes of curious people, mostly women to the scene.
Some of the women in the large crowd were seen openly shedding tears for the departed soul, particularly about the pathetic manner he left the earth.
The Ridge Police had since picked the body to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
Lord Manya, who was in the crowd, said a certain electric welder, who works close to the Vibration Spot, saw Assemblyman lying motionless on a bench.
The welder, who was about to open his shop around 8am on Monday, also saw houseflies all over Assemblyman’s body so he became suspicious.
Upon getting closer to Assemblyman, the welder realized that he had kicked the bucket so he quickly raised alarm, attracting people to the scene.
Most of the people that stormed the area claimed that Assemblyman was a habitual drunkard so they suspected that the alcohol might have killed him.
Others said Assemblyman did not show any sign of sickness a day before his death, alleging that excessive drinking the previous night might have caused his death.
