Stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were at the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday evening to receive the remains of the late chairman of the party Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.
Notable among the personalities were former President John Kufuor under whose administration Obetsebi-Lamptey served as chief of staff and a minister of state, and a former Minister of State Hackman Owusu Agyemang.
Others were family members and acquaintances and party executives who were at the airport to welcome the remains which arrived from the United Kingdom on board British Airways Flight Number 081.
Prayers were said for the body before it was taken away to a morgue.
Obetsebi-Lamptey will be laid to rest on Friday, April 22, 2016. He passed away on Sunday, March 20, in London following a protracted ailment.
