Your beauty alone re-brands EC – Adu-Asare to EC Boss

684508027_430800Presidential staffer, Kojo Adu-Asare has described as unnecessary the decision by the Electoral Commission (EC) to change its logo.

He argued that, though rebranding is not bad, there are more pressing issues the election management body needs to tackle ahead of a crucial election in few months time.

The EC has since 1968 had one logo which represents their core functions of being in charge of all election related activities in the country.

But few months to the elections, Commission under the leadership of Charlotte Osei has come one with a new logo which has attracted some criticism from political parties.

The new EC’s logo comprised eight arrow shapes all pointing to the  middle with eight red, green, yellow and whites dots at the bottom, which have been placed on a navy blue background while the Electoral Commission of Ghana has been inscribed in capital letters below.

Some Ghanaians believe that the new logo is telling the work of the Commission upon a quick glance but the old one was much clearer with its functions and, therefore, must be maintained.

Due to the pressure, Acting Director, Human Resource at the EC, Samuel Boadu said they would offer explanation on the essence of its new logo before the end of April.

.

But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday, Kojo Adu-Asare said the introduction of the new logo will not give EC the credibility.

Rather he said, the Commission’s ability to organize the upcoming elections in a free and fair manner will rather give it credibility.

“This new logo is not necessary, Charlotte, your beauty alone is rebranding but what will give the EC credibility is your ability to conduct a credible election” the former Adentan Member of Parliament added.

Kojo Adu-Asare urged the EC to reconsider its decision and focus more on the upcoming voter exhibition.

Also, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Director of Communication, Nana Akomea was infuriated by the actions of the EC.

“This new logo does not make sense and does not show seriousness. We have gone for money from donors and seven months election and you are throwing the money away” he fumed.

Nana Akomea said the new logo does not reflect the core duty of the EC.
