I’ll stop bleaching next year – Bukom Banku ‘Flesh’

60579011Controversial boxer Braimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, says he is taking a brief hiatus from the sport to concentrate on politics, but has promised to return to the ring stronger next year for a potential cracker against Bastie Samir.

The undefeated boxer, whose strange decision to bleach his skin sparked off public criticism and fears about its health implications, and says he  would stop bleaching next year to return to the ring.

The 39-year-old boxer told the Graphic Sports in an interview last Friday that he was currently focusing on politics and to ensure a decisive victory for President John Dramani Mahama in this year’s general election.

Turning to Samir, Kamoko said his potential opponent was a no match for him. He rather flayed the 2007 All Africa Games silver medallist for his lifestyle.

In recent times, Samir has thrown an open challenge to Kamoko and there is growing demand for a fight between the tough-talking two boxers.

A confident Kamoko, who last fought on December 26 last year when he stopped old foe Ayittey Powers in the fifth round of their non-title contest in Kumasi, insisted that he had no credible challenger in the country and rather advised Samir to work hard to quit his smoking and drinking habits.

“Bastir Samir is not a boxer and can never stand [face] me in a bout. For now I’m not ready for a fight in Ghana,” he stated.

“If he [Samir] wants to fight me, then he must work on his drinking and smoking habit before deciding to fight me which he will lose anyway.”

Despite medical advice against sports stars bleaching their bodies, Kamoko was indifferent and insisted that there was nothing wrong with his action.
