Pentecost Church reject Veep’s NDC green book donation

Some members of the Church of Pentecost have rejected the 300 copies of the ‘Green Book’ donated recently by Vice President, Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur.

The controversial Green Book details the supposed achievements of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) since it assumed power.

The Vice President, who was the special guest of honour at the Church of Pentocost’s 42nd General Council meeting, donated the copies of the Green Book and also promised to construct the road leading to the Pentecost Convention Center at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central region.

He urged the leadership of the church to distribute the books to its members to enable them to appreciate the achievements of the Mahama administration.

But some members of the church have raised concern about the development, saying they were aware of the achievements of the Mahama administration.

They believe Mr Amissah-Arthur should have donated useful materials to them instead of the propaganda handbooks.

For some, the Vice President should have donated copies of the bible to them to strengthen their fate in Christ and not books on politics and propaganda.

Some of members, in an interview with Adom Fm’s Kofi Adjei, said the donation of copies of the Green Book would create a lot of problems for the church.

“He shouldn’t have brought copies of the Green Book; he should have brought us Bibles because that is what would have turned our hearts from our sinful ways to God,” one of the disappointed church members said in an interview with Adom FM during a random sampling of their thoughts.

He said “instead of fixing the roads here, they have decided to come and donate the Green Book, I don’t think the Green Book will help us in anyway, they should rather construct the roads for us.”

Another member of the church, who also expressed grave concern about the development, said “they are giving us headache because the Green Book belongs to one political party.”

“I am not a member of the NDC neither am I a member of the NPP so why should I go for a copy of the Green Book and what purpose will it serve me?” he quizzed, adding that “it’s your good work that counts.”

Others argued that the distribution of the Green Book would create confusion in the church since they do not belong to the same political party.

“Vice President has done us a great disservice, we have members belonging to all political parties in Pentecost so the donation of the Green Book will send a wrong signal,” one of them said.

“I’m really shocked at the donation by Vice President, when I saw them I even thought they were Bibles so I was even rushing for one,” another church member stated.

It is unclear how the church would share the 300 copies of the Green Books to millions of its members across the length and breadth of the country.

Some said the Green Book is full of lies and exaggeration of the projects of the ruling NDC to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
