Actress Nadia Buari has been unveiled as a brand ambassador for the 2016 edition of the Golden Movie Awards.
The announcement was made Tuesday during the launch of the awards at the Tang Palace Hotel in Accra where the nominations were also released.
According to NMJ Ghana, organisers of the award, it believes in brand association, which is one of the fundamental drivers of Golden Movie Awards values including resilience, transparency and service which is guiding in the awards organisation.
Thus, they are convinced associating with a strong brand like Nadia Buari is the way to go. However, the rest of the ambassadors were not mentioned at the ceremony.
In her acceptance speech, Nadia said she was surprised to have to make the ambassadorial list adding she is ready to work to promote the awards.“I will do whatever it takes putting in the time and effort it requires so that our overall objective of changing African narratives through film will come to fruition. Thank you so much,” she said.
Ghanaian and Nigerian movies dominate this year’s nominations.
Top Ghanaian actors; Yvonne Okoro, Juliet Ibrahim, Eddie Nartey, Salma Mumin, Zynnell Zuh, Josleyn Dumas and others including new actress, Ophelia Klenam Dzidzornu were all on the nomination list.
Tuesday’s event was attended by Grace Omaboe, Socrates Sarfo, Shirley Frimpong Manso, Nikki Samonas, Asare Hackman, Mr. & Mrs. Elikem, Gloria Sarfo and a host of others.
The 2016 Golden Movie Awards is being organized in collaboration with the African Women Development Fund.
