How Alan Kyerematen was robbed – The inside story

806565784_837857Details are emerging on how some suspected armed robbers in the early hours of Saturday attacked and robbed Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirant, at his West Land residence in Accra.

According to DAILY GUIDE’s sources, the robbers entered the house of the NPP guru through a garage which had been converted into a study room by Alan’s son. It was reportedly not properly locked.

The puzzle about how the suspected robbers noticed that the place was not locked and therefore used it to access the house is yet to be resolved.

The robbers – three in number – after gaining access to the house, indicated that they were there to take money and not to harm any residents. They succeeded in robbing Alan of an undisclosed amount of money.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the suspected robbers first went to the room of two ladies who were said to be taking care of Alan’s in-laws, but could not lay their hands on anything valuable and therefore tied them to the bed to prevent them from raising an alarm.

The source further indicated that from there the gang went to the room of Alan’s son. He added that the son of the former Trade and Industry Minister under the erstwhile Kufuor administration (Alan) was tied to his bed while the night marauders ransacked his room.

Robbery

The suspected robbers, upon reaching Alan’s room, reportedly took a brief case they had initially wanted to take away but emptied its contents.

The gang bolted with mobile phones, tablets, laptops and an undisclosed sum of money belonging to the politician who is popularly called Alan Cash.

The robbers could, however, not access Alan’s wife’s room.

The paper further learnt that a guest house located at the residence of Alan Cash was also not spared by the robbers as they ransacked the facility and took away some money.

The source disclosed that the incident was reported to the West Legon police who gave extract to the complainants to go to the Kwabenya police to lodge a formal complaint.

.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that when the matter was reported to the Kwabenya police, they were lethargic.

Mr Kyerematen, however, had to fall on his former bodyguard to call the police patrol team and that was around 4am.

Unscathed

Earlier on Sunday, a certain Nana Yaw, said to be an aide to Mr Kyerematen, confirming the incident in a telephone interaction with DAILY GUIDE, was emphatic that the former Trade and Industry Minister and his family were safe.

This was irrespective of reports that the NPP man and his family were purportedly harassed by the robbers before they made away with their booty.

Alan is the third NPP member to be attacked by robbers in the past four months, after Dan Kwaku Botwe, Member of Parliament (MP) for Okere, was last month robbed at gunpoint at his Tema Community 18 residence.

Hostage

Three armed men, according to Mr Botwe, broke into the house at around 12:30 am demanding his money while he and his wife were held hostage in their bedroom for close to 45 minutes before the hooligans went away with an unspecified amount of money.

This was preceded by the murder of Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region, by robbers who claimed their intention was to steal and not to kill him.

JB met his untimely death when assailants claiming to be robbers entered his Shiashie, East Legon residence and stabbed him to death at about 1am on February 9, 2016.
