I deserve second term – Prez. Mahama in Ashanti Region

mahama-bsPRESIDENT JOHN Dramani Mahama insists he has done enough to improve the lives of the people in his first term in office so the electorate should retain him in power in 2016.

He said he had also laid a good foundation for effective and rapid socio-economic development of the country, stressing the need for him to be retained in office to complete his landmark projects.

Likening the presidency to a house project, he said a foundation is made first before the main house is constructed for people to inhabit it.

President Mahama maintained that he had laid down concrete foundation in his first term so he deserves another four years to complete his projects for the people to enjoy.

According to him, former presidents Rawlings and Kufuor performed to perfection because they stayed in political office for eight years each.

President Mahama noted that the country and the citizenry would benefit immensely from his administration if he was given two terms in office.

He was addressing a durbar of chiefs and people at Brewa near Kumawu in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, where a 120-bed capacity hospital is being constructed by the government.

Confident

Sounding extremely confident, President Mahama stated emphatically that he would emerge winner in the coming polls, stressing that his good works are his trump card.

He said the country had experienced massive transformation in the areas of education, roads, health, water and good governance, so he would surely win the election.

Promise

.

The president promised that he would ensure that the Kumasi-Accra and the Accra-Takoradi highways were developed into dual carriage roads if he was maintained in office.

Peace

He admonished the populace to be law abiding and shun all violent acts that could disturb the peace of the country so that Ghana could retain its enviable status as the model of democracy in Africa after the polls.

The president stated that it is unnecessary for anyone to lose his or her life because of elections, indicating that the maintenance of peace in the country is a collective effort.

Kumawu Hospital

He said the hospital at Brewa would be completed by the end of this year, noting that the facility boasts of amenities such as surgery theaters and laboratories and other key amenities to boost health care.

President Mahama said a water treatment plant similar to the new one constructed at Asante Mampong last year, would be commissioned at Kumawu by September this year.

Kumawuhene

The paramount chief of Kumawu, Barimma Tweneboa Kodua, presented a fat cow to President Mahama for embarking on numerous developmental projects in his area, urging the president to sustain his good works.

He appealed to him to ensure that the security of Kumawu and the surrounding areas is boosted significantly to help solve the Fulani cattle menace once and for all.
