NPP will collate our own results and go by the results – Mac Manu

mac-manuThe Campaign Manager of the New Patriotic Party, who is embroiled in ‘vote declaration’ controversy, has insisted the party will believe and go by its own collated results in the November polls.

According to Peter Mac Manu, parallel collation of votes by political parties is a normal practice during elections and the NPP will not be intimidated out of it.

The former chairman of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition has been widely condemned for stating that the party will declare results in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary polls.

“In this election, the NPP will also declare our own results. The IGP cannot stop us. Whether you are the Electoral Commission, whether you are a police or security officer, whether you are a polling agent, whether you are a chief, you cannot stop NPP from declaring results,” Mac Manu told an NPP gathering in Takoradi in the Western region.

Some political parties have suggested the NPP has intentions of bringing mayhem to the country with its posture towards the polls.

Responding to his critics, Mr Mac Manu told Accra-based Okay FM Wednesday, the NPP is confident of winning the November 7 polls and will do everything to protect their votes.

“What we are saying is that we will do parallel collation and that is done everywhere. In Ivory Coast and in Nigeria, both President Jonathan and Ouattara did it and that is how come they knew they had won or lost the polls respectively.

“We in the NPP will collate our own results and after counting we will post them on the walls at the various polling stations and we will go by the results. We will trust in those results because that will be the true reflection of the people’s choice,” he noted.
