Man arrested for having sex with daughter, niece (PHOTO)

KOFI KWARTENG1A forty-five-year-old farmer, Kofi Kwarteng, has been arrested at Bokwaso in the Ahafo Ano South District in the Ashanti Region for allegedly having carnal knowledge of his teenage daughter and his niece.

Kwarteng, whose wife died about four years ago, took advantage of his wife’s death to commit the crime.
He first defiled his 16-year-old daughter before defiling his niece, who is 13 years.
Kwarteng’s daughter is in class six while his niece is a class five pupil.
Tests conducted on his 16-year old daughter revealed that she is one-and-a-half months’ pregnant.

Complaints
The Mankranso District Police Commander,  Deputy Superintendent of Police  (DSP), Mr John Adusei, confirmed the incident to the Daily Graphic and said the two girls lodged a formal complaint with the Mankranso Police that the suspect had been having intimacy with them.
The girls, he said, alleged that the suspect had been forcing them at night for sex against their will.

Pressure
DSP Adusei said Kwarteng’s affair with his daughter and his niece began in the last quarter of last year.
He stated that Kwarteng’s daughter had to run away to Accra to spend the Christmas holidays with a relative because she was unable to stand the pressure for sex from her father.
According to DSP Adusei, after the suspect’s daughter had spent some time in Accra, she thought her father had changed only to return to find him even worse.
The District Police Commander said the girl later got to know that her father was also having sex with her cousin, and since she could take it no longer, she reported the matter to the police.

Caution statement
DSP Adusei stated that upon receiving a formal complaint, the police arrested the suspect.
In his caution statement, Kwarteng is said to have admitted that he forcibly had an affair with his biological daughter but said it happened only once.
DSP Adusei said Kwarteng, however, denied having sex with his niece.
The Mankranso District Police Commander said the suspect would be put before court.
