It was a pathetic scene to behold on Monday afternoon, July, 11, 2016 when a JHS pupil who was accompanying a colleague on an errand for their teacher got trapped in a metal slab used to cover drains at Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region.
An eyewitness who gave his name as Kobina Antobam tells Skyy Power Fm’s Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson the two JHS pupils from a private School in the Town were going to cash for a cheque for the Teacher at the Main branch of the Ahantaman Rural Bank.
Just a few distance away from the Bank’s premises, the victim stumbled and one of her legs got trapped in one of the metal slabs covering the drains.
Efforts by some passers-by and some traders around to remove it were fruitless.
Nearly about an hour without success, the GNFS and the Ambulance Service were called in but some artisans used Grinding machine to cut the slabs into pieces to rescue the victim before they arrived.
The victim who was groaning in pains with some abrasions and swellings on the leg was then rushed to the hospital for attention by a teacher and her mother who rushed to the scene.
