Prez. Mahama has advantage over opponents – Mrs. Nduom

DV5G8811The political arena ahead of the 2016 presidential election is unfair because the incumbent has undue advantage making things difficult for other candidates, Mrs Yvonne Nduom, has said.

Speaking to Class News on Saturday July 16 at the third national convention of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra, Mrs Nduom, wife of the party’s 2016 presidential nominee, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, noted that Ghanaians will begin to vote for the right candidates when they understand their civic responsibilities.

She added that Dr Nduom will have no problem winning the election if only Ghanaians will vote based on abilities and not on party affiliation.

“We have a population that majority of them do not really understand their civic duty, so, it becomes very difficult. The field is also not fair; the political arena is not fair. The incumbent has undue advantage, therefore, it becomes very difficult, but if you had listened to the speech that he [Dr Nduom] gave and if you really look at his character and also judge the candidate by their abilities and what they can do, then he shouldn’t have a problem”, she stated.

“It is just that we are into this party system where people feel like it is football affiliation: You support Manchester, so it doesn’t matter who is playing, you just give Manchester your support, but politics is different. The citizens will have to understand that whoever is the leader actually hold their destinies, so once we get there and people really understand their civic responsibilities, then they will vote for the right person. Right now, I feel that things are changing and people are politically aware, so, we hope for the best”, Mrs Nduom added.
