Nana Addo shakes Western Region

Nana-Addo-2-750x406Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the standard bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), brought commercial activities at Bibiani and Sefwi Wiawso in the Western Region, to a temporary halt when he visited the two towns yesterday.
Nana Addo, who is currently in the region for a five-day campaign tour ahead of this year’s polls, was mobbed by residents who were carrying out commercial activities. They abandoned everything to catch a glimpse of the NPP leader. They referred to him as ‘the next president of Ghana.’
The party’s flagbearer took time to shake hands and interact with many people in the communities he visited with his entourage.
His first port of call was Bibiani where the people pledged their full support for him in the December general election.
They praised the previous NPP administration for the construction of some roads, health and educational facilities in the area, and stressed the need for all registered voters in the community who had been made poorer and helpless by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to vote massively for the NPP to ensure that Ghana is put back on the pedestal of growth and development.
The residents bemoaned the fact that most social interventions like the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), introduced by the NPP regime under President Kufuor, is at the verge of collapse; and were hopeful that the NPP would resuscitate the scheme to the benefit of all Ghanaians when given the mandate.
There was excitement when Nana Addo and his entourage got to Sefwi Wiawso, as hundreds of residents came out to welcome him.
According to them, even though they had been voting for the NDC in previous elections, the ruling government had neglected them as they lack some basic social amenities.
They claimed it is obvious that President John Dramani Mahama and his team do not have the expertise to manage the affairs of the country.
Addressing the teeming crowd, Nana Addo explained that he was in the area to appeal to the people to vote for him and the party on December 7.
He told the people that his vision is about how to move Ghana forward and not about amassing wealth, adding….. “That is why I am asking you to vote for me.”
He bemoaned the current spate of corruption cases in the country, stressing that he would not condone corruption when elected as president of Ghana.
Nana indicated that when elected president, his focus would also be to expand and transform the Ghanaian economy to create sustainable jobs for the many unemployed youth in the country.
He reiterated that his proposed ‘one district, one factory’ policy is feasible and stressed that more jobs would be created in those areas because they are endowed with many resources which would serve as raw materials.
“I urge you to vote massively for the NPP in the 2016 general election so as to retire the NDC administration and improve the lives of Ghanaians,” Nana Addo appealed.
NPP bigwigs who accompanied Nana Addo included Alan Kojo Kyerematen, former Trade and Industry minister; Otiko Djaba, National Women’s Organizer of the party; Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado Ketan; Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, MP for Takoradi and other regional executives.
