Western Region chiefs endorse Nana Addo’s vision

Chiefs1Some chiefs in the Western Region have endorsed the campaign message and vision of the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, who has ended his campaign tour of the region.

The five-day campaign tour of the region took Nana Akufo-Addo to 15 constituencies.

The chiefs specifically hailed the proposed ‘One District, One Factory’ policy, saying it would help create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the region. The traditional leaders expressed confidence in Nana Akufo-Addo, especially when it comes to delivering on campaign promises.

This was when he paid a courtesy call on them at their respective palaces as part of his five-day campaign tour of the region.

At Dadieso in the Suaman Constituency, the Krontihene of the Suaman Traditional Council, Nana Armah Kofi III, was confident that Nana Akufo-Addo would deliver on his promise if elected president in the December 7 elections.

He said the people of Dadieso and Ghanaians in general believe that the ‘One District, One Factory’ policy is workable, and urged Nana Akufo-Addo to site one of the factories in Suaman to give the people job.

Nana Kofi III assured Nana Akufo-Addo of the support of his people in the traditional area, and appealed to him to upgrade the health centre at Suaman to a district hospital when he becomes president.

For his part, the chief of Prestea Himan in the Prestea-Huni-Valley Constituency, Nana Nteboa Pra IV, described Nana Addo’s proposed policy as a laudable one.

Nana Pra IV appealed to Nana Addo to set up a gold refinery in the community since they have the raw material to process the mineral into finished products, thereby creating jobs in the process, as well as improving local economy.

He also urged Nana Akufo-Addo to institute a Wassa Mineral Development Fund to help the people in the Wassa mining areas. He also wants him to fix the deplorable roads in Prestea when given the nod.

“I agree the battle is the Lord’s and God has already spoken and He will grant your heart desires,” the chief added.

In the Bia West area, the Chief Imam, Yakubu Abdulai, observed that Nana Akufo-Addo and his running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, represent the best hope for the development of Ghana.

“We are aware of your track record and your unfailing commitment to see a prosperous Ghana. We have no doubt that Alhaji Bawumia desires same for Mother Ghana”, he told Nana Akufo-Addo.

At Wassa Akropong, the Omanhene of the Wassa Amenfi Traditional area, Tetrete Okumoa Sekyim II, applauded Nana Addo for hatching the idea to carve out another region (Western-North) from the Western Region.

That, the paramount chief, said would help accelerate development in the northern part of the region.

He also appealed to Nana Akufo-Addo to establish a circuit court in his traditional area when given the nod.

Responding, Nana Akufo-Addo noted his promises to the people were genuine and not because he wanted them to vote him and his party to spearhead the governance of the country.

“I have too much love and respect for Ghanaians and so I will not make promises which I cannot fulfil. I will never do that.”

Addressing a rally later at Prestea, the Campaign Manager of the NPP, Peter Mac Manu, urged party supporters to be vigilant on the election day, saying they were all polling agents and have a role to play to prevent anyone from rigging the elections.

The NPP flagbearer and his entourage also visited Agona, in Wassa Amenfi Central, Asankabreman in Amenfi West, as well as Huni Valley and Oppong Valley in Prestea Huni Valley Constituency.
