Kofi Adams attacks Nana Addo

1.9475967Kofi Adams, National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has launched a vicious attack on the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Addressing supporters of the NDC in Sekondi on Wednesday, Mr Adams described the NPP leader as a divisive and intolerant leader who was going round begging Ghanaians to be elected as president in the December 7 polls.

The NDC organizer, who is also the Campaign Coordinator for John Mahama, likened the flagbearer of the NPP to a class prefect who could not manage his class well but wanted to move ahead to become a school prefect.

Incidentally, the NDC Organiser was suspended when he was a Deputy General Secretary for the party for allegedly leaking information to the NPP.

According to Kofi Adams, under the watch of the leader of the NPP, acid had been poured on some NPP members while some supporters were also maiming others with knives and broken bottles.

Speaking at the campaign launch of the NDC in the Sekondi constituency on Wednesday, Kofi Adams indicated that the NDC had become attractive to the extent that Ghanaians attend the party’s rallies in their numbers.

“After launching our campaign in the Central Region, President Mahama’s first port of call in his campaign tour was in the Western region and because of the support and blessings the president got from the Western region, wherever he visited to campaign, people throng there in their numbers as if they come from the sea or the forest,” he said.

Rigged election

The NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Wiawso, Paul Evans Aidoo, who doubles as the Western Regional Minister, mentioned that the country’s general elections could be rigged at the collation centres and urged the supporters of the party in the Sekondi constituency to be very strict and vigilant during the collation of results.

“If you are a party agent at the collation centre and you move from there to do something somewhere, before you return about 3,000 votes could be added to the results of your opponents,” he asserted.

He pointed out that in the last parliamentary elections in the Sekondi constituency, the NDC won but because the party’s agents were not vigilant, adding that they started jubilating after hearing some provisional results and this allowed the NPP to rig the election in Sekondi.

“Before I left for Sefwi Wiawso five days before the 2012 general elections, I knew the constituencies that the NDC was going to win and Sekondi was one of them. In fact, we won but our people were not vigilant.

“I will therefore appeal to all the party’s supporters to start jubilating only after the officially declaration of the results,” he added.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a Deputy Minister of Communications, debunked the assertion that the Sekondi Constituency was a stronghold of the NPP, adding that “Sekondi will become the NDC’s stronghold after the December 7 general elections.”

The NDC parliamentary candidate for Sekondi, Emmanuel Assifuah cited the construction of the Bosumtwi-Sam Fishing Harbour, rehabilitation of some railway lines and the asphalting of roads in Sekondi as some of the achievements of the NDC government in the area.
