He has consequently launched a movement to canvass votes for the New Patriotic Party in the forthcoming December elections. At the launch of the movement in Kumasi on Wednesday, Agya Koo said the harsh economic conditions in the country has made it impossible for him to remain impartial and unconcerned about the leadership of the country.Apart from being movie a star, he said, he was a parent and as such conversant with the prices of commodities on the market and “how expensive it is to give your children quality in this country.”

“It is for this and other reasons I have decided to join the voice for change by declaring my support for the presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo,” he said.

At a press conference to launch the movement known as ‘The Agya Koo Agenda 57 per cent for Nana Addo’ the ace comedian, said the objective of the movement was to interact with ordinary voters and share his experience on the need for change in the leadership in the country “since it is the only way this country can see progress.”

The movement is to rally support for the NPP to ensure that it secures 57 per cent of the popular votes to enable the flagbearer of the NPP to win the presidential election.

Speaking through his National Coordinator, Ms Matilda Asare, also an actress, Agya Koo, said many Ghanaians today faced unprecedented precarious economic hardships which have consequently led to job losses and high unemployment rate, poor health care and cut-throat utility bills.

“As a Ghanaian, I feel the pinch of the escalating prices of goods and services on the market and cannot keep quiet,” he said.
