President John Dramani Mahama has described Vera Oheneba Safoah, popularly known as ESI the reigning queen of TV3’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful as a very intelligent and eloquent lady.
The president’s remark was necessitated by Esi’s spectacular speech delivered at a grand durbar at the 2016 Oguaa Fetu festival held at the Victoria Park in Cape Coast. President Mahama had cause to laud Esi on two occasions: The first comment came immediately after Esi had given her speech and mounted the presidential dais to shake hands with President Mahama and other high profile dignitaries. “Well done. That was a very good speech,” the president commented. The president again described Esi as very intelligent and eloquent lady when the ceremony ended and he was going round to give a handshake to Osabarima Kwesi Atta (II) the Omanhen of the Oguaa traditional council and other dignitaries. When the president got to Esi for a handshake, the president paused and reiterated: “That was a good speech you delivered. You are very eloquent keep it up.”
Esi’s speech at the event centered on the theme for the festival: “The Falling Standards of Education in Cape Coast – The Role of Stakeholders.” She had in her speech urged parents to be more responsible and make the education and good upbringing of their children a priority.
According to Esi, teachers may be doing their best to help the children to be good students, but parents need to realise the children are theirs and to do everything possible to give them a good future. She called on parents to encourage their wards to study hard to make it to the senior high schools in the Central region especially the ones in Cape Coast. “The best schools in this country are found on our soil and parents should seriously ensure their wards make it to these schools,” she said. |
