Black Stars to arrive in Tamale today

black stars1The senior national team, the Black Stars, are expected to arrive in the Northern Regional capital of Tamale today ahead of their 2018 World Cup qualifier against their Ugandan counterparts at the Tamale Stadium on Friday.

The team is scheduled to touch down at the Tamale International Airport via a chartered flight at 10a.m. today and move straight to their hotel while holding their training session at the match venue this afternoon.

The Stars will also pay courtesy calls on the Gulkpe-Naa and the Dakpema, the Paramount Chief and Chief of Tamale respectively, at their palaces in Tamale.

The match will kick-off at 3.30p.m.  and the rates are as follows: Popular Stand – GH¢10, VIP – GH¢30 and VVIP GH¢50.

The Northern Regional Sports Director, Mr John Bosco Abase, who disclosed this to the Daily Graphic at the Tamale Stadium yesterday, said all was set for the international match on Friday.

He said the pitch, scoreboard, floodlights and public address system were all ready for the match.

Mr Abase disclosed further that a team from the Volta River Authority (VRA), Northern Electrification Department (NEDCO) and the Ghana Water Company (GWC) were on standby to attend to any technical hitches.

The last time the Black Stars played at the Tamale Stadium was in 2014 during the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Togo and Guinea respectively.
