SEKONDI: Thief dives into sea in failed attempt to escape (DISTURBING PHOTOS)

Assembly member of Bakaekyir, a suburb of Sekondi played a heroic role to rescue a suspected thief at the hands of angry mob who pounced on him and gave him a severe beaten till he became totally unconscious.

The suspect, George Armoo, in his 20s was arrested by some residents of Ekuase, an adjoining community of Bakaekyir with a laptop which the residents claimed he stole from the neighbourhood at about 2 am on Tuesday, 25th October, 2016.

The suspicious residents who have been complaining of upsurge in robbery in recent times angrily pounced on the suspect, beat him mercilessly and tied him to a tree.

The suspect reportedly tried several times to escape by diving into the sea by he was pursued in all the attempt and rearrested.

He was finally taken to a spot near Essei beach and was tied to a tree in an attempt to kill him but the Assembly member of the Area, Ishmael Bravo rushed to whisk him away to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for attention after receiving a distress call from a good Samaritan.

The suspect well built, has since been identified as George Armoo, a former student of TTI and an indigene of Huni Valley who has been lodging with a friend in Sekondi.

He is still receiving treatment at the Hospital.
