President John Mahama will later this evening officially inaugurate the completed Kwame Nkrumah Circle interchange to open access to traffic from all directions.
The event is expected to attract hundreds of people who would want to catch a glimpse of the widely publicized project, one of the flagship intiatives by the President and his government in the road sector.
A statue of Ghana’s First President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has been placed at the heart of the Circle interchange to reflect the interchange which also comes with additional facilities including a Police Post and a Clinic.
The Neoplan and Tema Stations have also been reconstructed.
One specific aspect of the project which has been the side of attraction in the nights is the “dancing fountain” which has become the cynosure of all eyes.
Some have described it as a mini-Dubai.
The Police MTTU and other law enforcement officers within the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) have been deployed to help motorists who will ply the route for the first time and other new diversions to adjoining routes.
The 74.88 million Euro project was jointly financed with credit from the Brazilian Government and the Ghana Government.
