President-Elect, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has pledged to fulfill all promises made to the people of Ghana.
Nana Addo was declared the winner of the 2016 elections after a keenly contested elections. He polled 5,716,026 to beat incumbent President John Mahama who had 4,713, 277.
According to EC statistics, Nana Akufo-Addo recorded 53.85% of the total votes cast as against 44.40 by President Mahama.
Speaking to party supporters gathered in his house after Madam Charlotte Osei, EC Boss declared him the winner, Akufo Addo said: “….the chairperson of the Electoral Commission; Charlotte Osei…has tonight declared me the winner of the 2016 presidential election. I am grateful to her for the announcement and her words of congratulation. I thank Almighty God for his grace and favour for granting victory to the NPP and myself…There never been a more humbling moment in my life…I make this solemn pledge to you tonight; I will not let you down…I will do all in my power to live up to your hopes and expectations. You are to be commended for the mature peaceful and orderly manner to which you exercised you democratic franchise….”
He added that even though his supporters have the right to jubilate, “I entreat them to respect the peace, property and lives of everybody especially those of other political opponents”
