It might be too early to project him as the saviour of Kwesimintsim constituency but those who are well vested in politics have already mentioned that the history of the newly gerrymandered constituency (Kwesimintsim Constituency) will be written as, before and after Joseph Mensah.
Joe Mensah, the man who is silently called ‘Last Killer’ by his constituents won the Kwesimintsim parliamentary seat on the ticket of New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2016 (December) general elections. Joe Mensah hails from Kwesiminstim where he is currently serving his people in parliament, a rare opportunity he calls “a humbling call to duty to give off my best to my hometown and the people I love dearly. The voices of the people in my constituency will be my voice in Parliament”
His progress in education both in Ghana and outside Ghana is enviable. The 22nd August born Member of Parliament (MP) is an alumnus of Fijai Secondary School in Sekondi, Western Region of Ghana where he obtained GCE O’level certificate in General Arts from 1972 – 1977. He proceeded to Workers College from 1979 -1981 to obtain GCE A levels certificate in Economics, History and Geography. From 1988-1992, Joe Mensah pursued diploma in education from University of Cape Coast. He further pursued Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology also at University of Cape Coast from 1988 – 1992. From University of Antwerp (Belgium), Honourable Joe Mensah has Masters in Port Administration and Harbour Management (from 1995- 1996).
Published in 2014, the author of ‘Reflections on my path’ Hon. Joe Mensah is a member of Institute of Logistics and Transport and a council member of Takoradi Technical University (formerly Takoradi Polytechnic). He served as a board member of Takoradi Polytechnic from 2009 to 2014. From 2015 to 2016, Hon. Joe Mensah was a part time lecturer of logistics and transport (CILT) at the Takoradi Polytechnic from 2015 – 2016.
Since 1978, he has climbed high the hierarchy of Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) ladder. He has held various positions like Accounts Supervisor, Training Officer, Training Manager, Human Resource Manager and Operations Manager.
One of the finest brains Ghana’s august house is blessed with, Joe Mensah’s vision for Kwesimintsim Constituency is built around five (5) pillars; education and scholarship, health and sanitation, development of sport and sport facilities, finance and credit and developmental projects (roads, water, street lights and more).
Honourable Joe Mensah who was born in the same year Ghana attained independence is married to Mrs. Vida Mensah and has three (3) children; Kwame, Efua and Araba-Twumasi Mensah.
