Since the release of Junka Town part 5 and 6, there have been oodles of controversies in Sekondi-Takoradi surrounding the absence of a key actor, Alaska in the most celebrated Fante movie (Junka Town).
Last Saturday (18th March, 2017) on OC Showbiz Review on Skyy Power FM in Takoradi, listeners of the award winning show had the privilege to hear from the Director and Script Writer of Junka Town, Solomon Bosomtwi Sam concerning the absence of Alaska in the movie. Mr. Bosomtwi Sam, Junka General as he is hailed by many explained that Alaska told the production team that he is no longer interested in shooting the movie, this he (Alaska) told the team only two scenes away. As production is time bound, he brought on board Homeless to act the roles of Alaska.
Speaking to Alaska on phone, host of OC Showbiz Review Nana Kwame the Master Planner asked him his side of the story. According to Alaska, he was battling family issues which left him traumatised so he was not in the best of mood to shoot the movie. He explained that, there are other internal issues which also accounted for his absence in the part 5 and 6.
The unhappy Mr. Bosontwi Sam vented his spleen on Alaska in his reaction to Alaska’s claims about his reasons for his absence in the movie. The programme had to go on a premature break due to some unprintable words used by the Junka General who nearly spilled some personal issues of Alaska.
During the break, panel members, JM Caesar, a renowned sports host on Skyy Power FM, Nana Kwesi Coomson of www.233times.net and Nana Kwame, host of OC Showbiz Review and Manager of West Gold Radio calmed the Junka General down and helped to resolve the impasse.
This Author can confirm that Alaska and Mr. Sam are in good terms now. According to Mr. Sam, Alaska would be in the next project (Sugar and Spice) of the production house. The next project called ‘Sugar and Spice’ which would be released in June this year would be another much talked about production from the genius producer Solomon Bosomtwi Sam.
