The National Service Scheme (NSS) has released the postings for nurses for the 2017/2018 service year. In all, 6,676 nurses have been posted to health facilities dotted across the ten regions of the country.
In a statement issued by the Scheme’s Acting Executive Director, Ussif Mustapha, on Sunday, March 26, eligible nurses who registered are expected to check their placements and proceed to the regional NSS secretariats “to complete the registration processes”.
“Management wishes to urge all the posted nurses to accept their placements and consider them as part of their contribution towards building a healthy nation.”
Meanwhile, the Scheme has asked personnel to disregard claims that the allowances have been increased from GH¢350 to GH¢430. “Management wishes to state that increment in National Service allowances featured prominently in the Scheme’s budget which is currently before Parliament for appropriation,” said Gifty Oware-Aboagye, the Deputy Executive Director (Finance and Administration), in a statement.
The Scheme said it will, in due course, communicate officially to the general public the outcome of its engagements with Parliament over “our budget and increment in personnel allowances specifically”.
