At the plush Best Western Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi on 29th April, 2017, the maiden edition of the Rush Western Music awards came off. At the colourful event which witnessed the presence of both the young and old, performances from Kofi Bentil, Paulina Oduro, Kofi Kinaata, Gyedu Blay Ambulley, Evangelist Ernestina Konney, Sayvee, Nero X, amongst others shook the venue.
The event which started about an hour and half late is described by many as the best event to be hosted by all Westerners. Even though there were some minor flaws on that night, the performers took the minds of the patrons off them. Hosted by Nana Qwasi Wusu and Chelsey Sey, the maiden edition of the Western Music Awards has been tagged as historic.
