At the hearing on Tuesday April 11, the accused Adolf Essel Snr, a Taxi driver told the court it wasn’t his intention to cause such a harm. He explained he wanted to cane the child who has habitually been stealing his money but the victim, Adolf Essel Jnr attempted escaping so he pushed him and the victim unfortunately fell into some hot water on fire.

However as to why he decided to keep the child in the room instead of taking him to hospital for treatment, he couldn’t answer the court. The Judged therefore found his action to be deliberate and remanded him to reappear on April 25.
