Road transport fares have been increased by 15 %. The new fares take effect from Thursday, April 6, a release from the Road Transport Operators said on Monday, April 3.
This is in line with the administrative instrument on public transport fares, the release explained. The fares cover intra-city, inter city and taxi operations. Jointly signed by representatives of the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU) and Ghana Roads Transport Coordinating Council (GRTCC), the release asked members to post the fares at their terminals and possible in their vehicles “to avoid confrontation with the travelling public”.
The upward review of fares is the first in 2017. –
