AS part of its effort to promote the local automobile industry, the Ministry of Trade and Industry has purchased a ‘Kantanka Onantefo’ four-wheel drive to supplement the fleet of the Ministry.

At the handing over ceremony at the premises of the Ministry yesterday, the Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng, said the Ministry was pleased to be the latest to join the ‘Kantanka club’.
“By purchasing this vehicle from Kantanka, we are supporting local enterprises and initiatives. Secondly, this is a very practical demonstration and vision of this government about establishing and supporting the private sector to develop strategic anchor industries – one of which is the automotive and vehicle assembling”.
The Trade Minister also stated that his Ministry is supporting the Kantanka initiative because it is one which is creating employment and jobs which the government is preaching.
“We are pleased to be part of this initiative because they are developing local skills, developing new technologies, transforming these technologies and using these skills to manufacture vehicles”.
“We are also developing new enterprises that will link to the Kantanka initiative,” he added.
Mr Kyeremantang hoped government will make a policy so more cars can be bought from Kantanka automobile.
Chief Executive Officer of Kantanka Automobile, Mr Kojo Sarfo, who handed over the keys of the new ‘Kantanka Onantefo’ to the Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyeremanteng, said Kantanka Automobile seeks to challenge any automobile company in Ghana as well as the Automobile industry in Africa.
