Twenty-two students of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) including a hall President, Enoch Abeiku Bart Plange Tawiah (from Sekondi/Takoradi) have been rusticated(suspended)by the School after being found culpable in the clashes that occurred on the School’s campus during a hall week celebration by Atlantic Hall.

The students, most of whom are executives of Atlantic Hall; organisers of the hall week have been rusticated for periods ranging between two and four semesters.

It would be recalled three students were stabbed in March this year at UCC following a clash between some irate students of the University of Ghana (UG), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and UCC.

A student of UCC was paralysed after he was stabbed while trying to enter his hall from night studies. The victim, Emmanuel Quarshie, 18 is currently receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The clashes erupted when porters of Oguaa Hall refused to allow some naked Vandals, Unity and ATL students into the hall.

Several properties worth thousands of cedis belonging to Oguaa hall as well as vehicles belonging to some lecturers were vandalised.

Following the clashes, the Central Regional police arrested some 22 students who were said to be involved.

The 22 are those who have been implicated and rusticated after investigation.

Their names, pictures, Index numbers, programme of study, Hall of Residence and duration of rustication have been posted all over the university campus since night of Saturday, May, 20, 2017.
