Seasoned journalist Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has lambasted Ex-President Rawlings for posturing himself as more Catholic than the Pope.
Speaking on Peace FM‘s Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako posited that Mr. Rawlings has no moral right to pontificate on corruption in the country.
According to Mr. Baako, the Rawlings’ regime was extremely characterized with corruption and the latter himself played active role in this national canker.
Addressing a gathering at the 38th anniversary of June 4 revolution held at Wa in the Upper West on Sunday, the former President blamed his party – the National Democratic Congress – for their humiliating defeat in the 2016 elections.
He stated that the NDC was booted out of office because of greed, selfishness and corruption.
“Nobody is saying don’t make money, make it good and clean; but not some of the ones I know; sickening, that kind of greed and selfishness, look at where it landed us. Or is it because this government is not behaving the way Kufour did in his time, so we think we are okay? I know what’s going on. I know some of the things they are running into,” he said.
But to Mr. Baako, listening to Mr. Rawlings on corruption matters is like “going to brothel to go for lessons on morality”.
He described Mr. Rawlings as a hypocrite.
“I have nothing personal against President Rawlings. In fact, when it comes to personality, he’s one of the best. Socially, fantastic sense of humor; he’s mixes up very well. But when it comes to politics, he’s detestable and hypocritical, and he’s the last person for us to listen to on sermons on corruption“, he stated.
