Prez. Akufo-Addo witnesses 2nd change of guards at Flagstaff House

6a2d5d3685ae1d7ee264641053bb926a_LPRESIDENT Nana Akufo-Addo yesterday witnessed the ceremonial change of the guard at the Flagstaff House in Accra.

The quarterly ceremonial parade is a colonial legacy inherited from the British, and is similar to that of the Buckingham Palace.
President Akufo-Addo is witnessing the ceremony for the second time as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces. The first was on March 27, 2017.
The Ghana Navy takes over guard duties at the Flagstaff House for the next three months.
Until yesterday’s ceremony, the Ghana Army was in charge of Guard duties at the Presidency.
The ceremony, characterised by complex but precise military drills and poignant evocation of songs by the combined band of the Army and Navy, was also witnessed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare, ministers, service chiefs and top government functionaries, as well as school children.
The President used the occasion to encourage the school children to make the most of their educational opportunities.
