‘Running,’ a short narrative film directed by Jumic Emma Anderson, Director at Greenyard Entertainment based in Takoradi has been nominated in the Short Film category of the upcoming Golden Movie Awards 2017.
With the main of fighting child marriage menace, RUNNING tells the story of a 13-year-old girl Segua who desires to attain greatness in life. This ambition of Segua motivates her to resist her parents’ compulsion of giving her out for marriage at the age of 13. She flees from the house and is being pursued by her step brothers to bring her back home for the planned marriage.
Alongside films like ‘IVIEME,’ ‘BITTER SWEET WINE,’ ‘DABARA’ and ‘BROKEN,’ Running is tipped by many as the obvious winner in this category.
Running has been selected and nominated to screen in several film festivals and competitions across the world both(internationally and locally). Currently, RUNNING is on a UK tour which is done by World Merit, an international organization based in Liverpool, UK.
Jumic Emma Anderson, the Creative head behind the film said, “I am personally very sensitive to children related issues, maybe because I’ve been a pupil teacher before. I see in their eyes the deepest wisdom of life that is mostly neglected in our part of the world. So when Joseph Otsiman, a 2016 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nominee, who played the role of ETUR (starring) and also the producer of RUNNING, one day approached me with a story about Child Marriage, I instantly Loved the idea and just had to interperate that onto the screen”,
Running will be screening in Egypt this August and September.
Golden Movie Awards 2017, will be held on Saturday 22nd at the Movenpick Ambassador’s hotel in Accra 9pm.
